Autumn On The Farm

The transition from summer to fall is here! The nights are cool, the days are mild, and the soil is warm. Honey bees are gathering nectar & pollen for the winter.

Shoulder season crops thrive in the spring and fall. Cool nights create sweetness in dark greens, the brassicas, like kale, bok choi, spinach and Napa cabbage.

We’re harvesting winter squash, dark greens, carrots and beets.

Fall fruiting shiitake mushrooms are popping out every time it rains.

However, many of the summer staples like peppers, tomatoes, and eggplant are still producing and available. But not for much longer.

Our Summer Stand won’t be open for much longer either. Take a drive into the backcountry this weekend. Enjoy the beauty and visit the farm while you can.
